Fontifier.com

http://www.fontifier.com/

Want to use your own handwriting as a computer font? If so, visit this site. I haven't tried it, but you can preview it for free. Even if you buy it, it's only $9 (USD), so you won't go broke either way. Pretty interesting concept.....if you have nice handwriting.

First dance? Interesting...

My first dance wasn't quite as dramatic...nevertheless, you might find this entertaining.

Red Box - Video Rentals

Have you heard of Redbox? If you haven't, you're missing out. It's a new way to rent movies. It's cheaper than Netflix and Blockbuster. We use one that's sitting in a Harris Teeter, right before you walk inside the store (where they store the shopping carts). You can rent movies for $1 a night. As long as you return it by 9 p.m. the next night, it doesn't cost you anything additional. For each additional night, add $1 to the rental fee. After 25 nights, the DVD is yours to keep. Of course, if you think you want to buy the DVD, just go to a store and buy it cheaper. But, it's a sweet concept. New DVD's come out every Tuesday, and you can return the movies to any Redbox location. You can even rent them online and go pick them up at the store. It uses your credit card to track everything. Granted, the selection of DVD's isn't as extensive as a Netflix, but it's got new releases every Tuesday, and it can hold upwards of 400 DVD's, so it's got a nice variety.

Drive cars the free way

Sounds like a salesy cheese pitch, doesn't it? Well, it's not really. Click the link below to go to Dave Ramsey's site and watch his video. It's pretty convincing.

Halloween Package

The Halloween Package is available. Order soon as Halloween isn't that far away and we always like to give an extra day or two to let our care packages filter through the mail room systems.

If you want to check out the Halloween package, click here.

Also, I saw this mentioned on WSJ.com today and thought it was a festive site. Check out the different pumpkin carvings. Cool stuff. http://extremepumpkins.com/

Chocolate Lover's is back in season

Just wanted to let everyone know that our "chocolate lover's" package is now available again. Since no one likes receiving melted chocolate, we hold off on selling this package during the hot summer months. But, FALL is here now, so this package is back.

Move in at the alma mater!

We just got back from spending a few days at my alma mater up in Central Virginia. I got to spend some time with the parents as they waited for their son and/or daughter to "check in" for the semester. Our table was located in the new Elliot & Rosel Schewel Hall. This building didn't exist during my tenure. Go figure. Check this link out if you want to see what all is included in the 67,000 square foot building. http://www.lynchburg.edu/schewel.xml

For those food lover's who want the update: No, I didn't get a cheesy western this time. In fact, I haven't gotten one of those in a long time. For those that know what city I just visited, you know exactly what I'm talking about. However, I did get to eat at a favorite Japanese restaurant. I never could eat all the steak & chicken in that meal, even while I was in college.

fall & football just around the corner

We're gearing up for the fall semester, trying to stay cool. It's only been 100 degrees the last few days. Guess we won't be stocking chocolate for a little while.

Football is just around the corner. Being in the middle of big-time ACC country, we're just a few miles from Wolfpack headquarters. Of course, Duke & Chapel Hill are just a few miles further. There's more hype around there, though, in March. We really have no special akin to State--they're just closer. PS. To the Dukies & Tar Heel customers, this isn't a disclaimer to keep you happy. We really don't have a preference.

New "Taste of Carolina" package

This is our newest package. It's called the "Taste of Carolina" package. What makes this package so much different from our other packages is that all the products have been manufactured in the state of North Carolina. With all the relocated Yanks down here, this makes a great package to send back to all those northerners who fear the heat.
